This one week intensive class discusses the requirements for and interaction between different forms of employee leave. Participants will learn about the leave mandated under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the law's eligibility requirements and employer obligations. Participants will also learn about medical accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its 2008 expansion as well as the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, including potential medical leave. Finally, participants will learn about worker's compensation leave and how all four laws intersect. This course includes asynchronous instruction available daily through videos, reading and online discussion topics. Twice during the week (on Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm to 4pm ET), the instructor will be available for office hours to discuss participants' questions in a live Zoom chat. Participants should reserve 1-2 hours daily for the course in order to maximize learning.
