When we formed NBOA, we decided to formally recognize people who dedicate their careers to the help and support of others in our field. To do this, we needed to identify the person who, without question, epitomized those characteristics. There was unanimous consent that Ken White, an incredibly active business officer and an incredibly inspiring person, was that individual.

Will J. Hancock Unsung Hero Award

This prize recognizes the men and women who make an extraordinary contribution to their schools. They are the ones who shape the school’s future in such a significant manner that the school is forever changed. Will Hancock, who inspired this award with his track record of outstanding service to independent schools, helped us define, by example, what it means to make “an extraordinary contribution.”

This award is given to individuals whose service to independent schools reflects the extraordinary commitment, vision, and leadership of Sarah Daignault, Founding Executive Director of NBOA. Recipients show generous support of independent schools and their business officers, through their roles as association executives, corporate partners, consultants, or senior administrators.
