Jennifer Osland Hillen, CPA, CGMA, is NBOA's vice president, professional development and business affairs. She leads the development and delivery of professional development programs and serves as a content expert on finance, accounting, tax and other independent school practitioner matters. She also serves as liaison to the controller community and NBOA member accounting and audit firms. Hillen came to NBOA in early 2017 after eight years at Harpeth Hall School, where she served as the associate director of finance and operations, following prior service as controller and manager of accounting. Before joining Harpeth Hall, Hillen was a lead senior auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP, a Big 4 public accounting firm. She is involved in donor stewardship and gift reporting in her role as a board member for several nonprofit organizations, including the Junior League of Nashville, of which she is currently serving as president.
To mirror the essential bond between business officers and enrollment managers that is imperative for the financial sustainability and strategic direction of a school, NBOA has partnered with the Enrollment Management Association (EMA) to explore issues of affordability in PK-12 independent schools and spotlight innovations underway to address these challenges.
