Palmer Ball

Palmer Ball

Prior to forming Palmer Ball Consulting, LLC Ball served as business manager at Spartanburg Day School (Spartanburg, South Carolina) for 21 years. She was the 2015 recipient of NBOA's Ken White Award, served two terms on the NBOA Board of Directors and was elected to the Association of Business Officers of Independent Schools (ABOIS) in 2008. Ball has served on the faculty of NBOA's Business Officer Institute (BOI) and at the Klingenstein Institute at Columbia University in New York City. Ball has presented the long-range budge model via online classes, webinars and presentations at numerous national and regional conferences. She holds a B.A. in biology from Converse College and an MBA in accounting from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbuilt University.

Mary Kay Markunas

Mary Kay Markunas

Mary Kay Markunas has over 24 years of experience supporting management teams in independent schools and Fortune 100 companies, and currently serves as the Senior Manager, Member Resources and Industry Research, (IL) at NBOA. In this capacity, she manages all of NBOA's research efforts and surveys. Prior to this position, Markunas served as the Director of Finance and Operations at the Avery Coonley School. She holds a BS from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

NBOA Board Member Recommendations

NBOA

NBOA is now seeking recommendations for nomination to its Board of Directors. NBOA members are encouraged to participate in the process by recommending potential candidates to the Governance Committee of the Board. New Board members serve three-year terms starting July 1, and are eligible for re-election to second three-year terms.
