Share your knowledge with our members by presenting at NBOA events.
NBOA seeks dynamic speakers who can offer expertise on issues facing independent school business officers and whose presentations meet NBOA's goal of exchanging knowledge and providing solutions. There are numerous professional development opportunities throughout the year, and school and corporate members are encouraged to share their expertise with NBOA members by presenting at these events.
Corporate members are encouraged to present with a business officer, to offer multiple perspectives and insights into a topic. While being a corporate member does not guarantee a speaking slot, preference is given to corporate supporters over non-members when selecting presenters.
Think you'd like to present, but you don't have a good topic in mind? Take a look at these ideas. Have a great topic, but you are a little unsure how to present it effectively? Consider these formats that go beyond the traditional speaker and PowerPoint lecture. NBOA is actively seeking sessions that are creatively structured to take advantage of technology and the power of peer interaction.
Webinars are presentations made over the internet, with participants viewing the slide presentation on their computers. NBOA's webinars are typically an hour long, including a question and answer session. There are generally 175-225 participants on a webinar.
NBOA's Annual Meeting is held during the last week in February. This event (formerly known as Symposium) attracts 600-800 business officers. Speakers will present either concurrent sessions, which are generally 75 minutes in length with 15-75 attendees, or a goldmine, a 15-minute presentation given 3-4 times at a table with 10 attendees. Presenters chosen to speak at the NBOA Annual Meeting must pay registration fees (at a reduced Speaker rate). Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses. They must also supply a laptop for their presentation and submit session materials prior to the stated deadline.
Business Officer Institute is a week-long program held in June. This program is primarily geared towards newer business officers with less than five years' experience in the independent school world. Sessions are typically an hour in length, with 15-75 attendees. Presenters chosen to speak at the Business Officer Institute will be given a complimentary registration for the day they are speaking. If a presenter decides to stay for the entire event, they must pay the full registration fee. Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.
