Breakout Session C |
Wednesday, 10:30 - 11:45 AM |
Battle of the Bands:
Orchestrating High Performance
Eileen Robin, School of the Holy Child, and Donna Millett, Development Dynamics
What attracts faculty to a school? What motivates them? Why do they leave? The School of the Holy Child used these questions as the basis for creating a banded compensation system. This session will focus on implementing a banded salary scale system and an assessment and development process based on criteria set by the faculty, staff, and administration. We will discuss how such a system can be used to both reward and motivate faculty, and review some of the successes and pitfalls experienced along the way.
Learning Objective: Business Officers will learn about creating a banded salary system based on assessment and professional development.

They’re Finally Here:
The New 403(b) Regulations
Robert Architect, Internal Revenue Service
In July, the Internal Revenue Service published final regulations governing 403(b) plans. The final rules apply to all 403(b) plans and are effective for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2008. In this session, we will review the requirements of the new regulations, discuss what the IRS expects from employers, and offer tips to ensure compliance. Because plan compliance with the Internal Revenue Codes and Regulation cannot be delegated and is the responsibility of the plan administrator, it is critical that you understand your role in your school’s compliance with the new 403(b) regulations.
Learning Objective: Business Officers will learn about the new 403(b) regulations and what action is required by schools to ensure compliance.
