It feels like all kinds of forces are working on our schools right now and not necessarily for the better. The credit crunch is affecting the financial markets; interest rates are down; birth rates are down; energy prices are up; the economy is sluggish at best; financial aid applications even from current families are going through the roof. Everyone at school is looking at you to solve the problem.
IAFM this year is going to be devoted to just that! We are bringing together senior business officers from around the country to be the NBOA crew who will help guide this ship through the storm.
Do you have any solutions that you have tried at your school that worked? Can you clearly articulate the questions that need solutions? Were you in this job in 1987? Then you have been through all of this before. What worked? What did not? We want you to join us for this hands-on working session.
We will spend two and half days together hammering out real solutions to these problems. Our work will be shared with the rest of the membership ASAP. The meeting will take place Nov 9-11 in Providence RI, a good seafaring town. This is right in the middle of budget prep time, so we have some real urgency to pull together our work and share it with others.
In order to attend, I need to you fill out an application. We want a balance of sizes and kinds of schools represented at IAFM so that the solutions we develop will address the needs of all independent schools. You must have been a Business Officer in independent schools for a minimum of 10 years in order to attend IAFM. As always, this event is only open to NBOA members.
